RESOLVED: THE NEW BRANCH IS CURRENTLY IN THE DEVELOPING AND IT CAN BE COMPILED FROM SVN
hi to everyone i'm reading EVERYTHING about tyrian and i relaised the possibility to download Tyrian2000 for free (not sure aboute the license).
i'm wondering if you (opentyrian developers) can use the tyrian2000 files (like the chapter 5) and integrate them in opentyrian ,maybe making a real DEFINITIVE RE-MASTERED REMIXED ENHANCED version.
are the tyrian2000 files not aviable for this project?

Tyrian 2000 files are not supported -- no one has yet put in the effort to add support, and none of the current developers will add support in the foreseeable future.

What if I would be interested in adding the support? I am in contact with another person willing to do it and I have reasonably high reverse engineering skill (even though little spare time) Would it be possible to have another branch of the svn available for development? If it is too much of a hassle , I may simply open another project on Google Code if you want to avoid the burden, but it would be nice to keep the two works together, if there are no issues.

I don't see why we couldn't have a branch for it. Nobody else who has wanted to add support has really gotten anywhere (as far as I know). But if you think you can do it, just pop onto the IRC channel and poke either yuriks or me.

ehi guys this is a GREAT NEWS! my hopes died when mindless said "Tyrian 2000 files are not supported -- no one has yet put in the effort to add support, and none of the current developers will add support in the foreseeable future." but now, thanks to Alexander, my hope is reborn! i want let you know i've made an "data Ultra pack" with the data from tyrian2000 + your tyrian 2.1 data, keeping only the latest version (i can do it looking at the creation date), and i'm using it now with opentyrian enhanced svn. i just followed 2 link: 1= www.freewebs.com/worldtreegames/2= camanis.net/and i want suggest: lostgarden.com/2007/04/free-game-graphics-tyrian-ships-and.html

Quite interesting indeed. Can you provide a list of which files of your data pack have been modified with respect to the Tyrian 2.1 data pack and which files from Tyrian 2000 have been used, since they are not straighforward compliant? If you did repack Danc's remastered graphics (which are indeed from Tyrian2000) in a format , which files did you repack? Are you also able to provide an archive (plain zip works better since it's multi-platform) with your revision of the data pack?

I'm GMT-6 and yuriks is in some crazy South American timezone <_<. Anyhow, I'm in the channel 24 hours a day, so if you say something and don't get a response right away, don't be surprised.

i'm in Italy, so GTM +1 (now 15:11,, 3:11 pm) for the files i have "repacked" i'll provide a list, but i simply copyed the Tyrian2000 data files in tyrian2.1open files, and i kept the most recent files. i know this is not the correct way, but what i remember is: 1: 90% of the files are from tyrian2.1open (2007 date) 2: 2% of the files are more updated in tyrian2000 (tyrian2.1=1997, tyrian2000=1999) 3: 8% of the files are new (Episode 5 levels) for tomorrow i'll provide a list: i say tomorrow because now i'm full of exams, so in my priority list tyrian is after study (yeah, engineering is not so easy). byeee

OK, and what you expect to get with those frankenfiles? Bugs? (Yes, using Tyrian2k data causes a bunch of weird bugs.)

I am actually abroad for a week for a winter school... as soon as I get back to Italy I should be able to get back in the thing. To Grezzo16 : by any chance, are you attending Politecnico di Milano? I am actually a PhD student there...
