Yeah, MSVC is broken, actually, I'll try compiling OpenTyrian on it right now.
EDIT: Just tried. MSVC (2003) doesn't correctly support neither C99 nor C++. You won't get it to compile, just stick to mingw.

Ah well. Say, now that Tyrian is under way into conversion, is there any place in the source code which specified the amount of damage any weapon/each weapon does? Having a hard time finding it, unless it's in that bloody Tyrian.hdt file.

It's not on the source. It's on the data files somewhere, yeah, probably the HDT, talk to Mindless to be sure tho.

By the way, once when either 'port' is completed (Most preferably the non-classic Tyrian one), is there a plan to make MUCH better editors for things, like ships, levels, graphics and such? (And do you guys plan on editing how the graphics are loaded from files themselves?)
Because I got a small project of remaking Tyrian ships in my current skill and style, and must I say, they look much better. (No offense to the original artist). ;D

Much better huh ? Maybe only for your. I doubt I'll throw Danc's original graphics for a remake... If you're planning to make a completely new episode with your own graphic, that could be a really good thing, but just remaking the ships...

Well, I'm just expressing my general opinion that they do look somewhat better than the originals, sorry if I said it as a fact. I only started making them when I was looking at other 'shmup's akin to Tyrian, Tyrian's graphics looked a bit, sad to say, flat like. The backgrounds are OKAY, in my opinion, but I'm just remaking the ships, bosses and, most likely, effects too. If nobody minds, here's the link to the graphics if you really wish to see how I'm progressing. Remade Tyrian ships.And also excuse the fact that it almost looks exactly the same (shape wise, almost pixel perfect, to say) like the originals. Because it is a remake, I wanted to be as close as I could to the ships while still enhancing them further. The only thing that's almost guaranteed to be 100% close is the Microcorp Stalker ship. Again, sorry if I offended Danc.

They do not look any better than the originals... but that doesn't mean there ugly... it is not really a remake of the ships, but a tuned version...saying they are "much better" than the originals when just changing a couples of pixels is a bit pretentious. Instead of tuning originals ships, why don't you try to create completely new ones ? It could be really great...

ryancordell: I dunno, but I like the originals more, maybe if you actually made those high-res... That's partially what I'm trying to avoid, using more colors than necessary. It's a kind of unwritten rule in pixel art that you have to make due with the colors that you have. Working yourself around the constrictions of a pallete will rather sharpen your skills and teach one how to conserve his colors and use it well.

That font is not replacing anything. I blame the brightness of said fonts. Besides, they're just there after I was mucking around with double-wide pixels. Has a certain charm to it.
