I was wondering if it's possible to use the custom ships with Tyrhack.
I decided to turn to it, since I wasn't able to configure my custom ships the way I wanted to (Megalaser Dual, SDF Main Gun and Widget Beam still elude me lol).

Yes, but the system is a bit outdated, and gives out some pretty FUNKY characters (letters) in areas, like !@#$%^!&$(#GENCOY@#($RE@(& etc... It's pretty messed up in some sections. I don't remember using it for custom ships, I use Tyrian's default ship editor to equip stuff on it and such. I don't think ShipEdit can equip special weapons... Well, that's only what I think.

ShipEdit can equip special weapons--only thing is, Tyrian didn't allow me to keep the Widget Beam (a normal weapon) even though the Destruction percentage was above 80%. So since I was tired of fighting with ShipEdit that way, I was wondering if things could be done the same with TyrHack. I didn't want to use TyrHack, though, because ShipEdit's interface seems much simpler. If TyrHack is my only option, now, could you (or anyone, for that matter) inform me as to how one can use custom ships with it?

ShipEdit's error checking/implementation system sometimes is flaky (eg ships that are custom may sometimes appear as triangles and other various game objects, which is really funny). I say TyrHack is a good place to start, but I have no experience trying to make ships with it... Probably can try and tell you the results of my tinkering. I'll help as much as I can...

So far, it gives me an error upon going into the 'Ships' section, and I got past that; after that event, I did modify an existing ship to a totally new one - renamed the USP Light Fighter to the UberDooberTestShip. I tricked it out with some good standard weapons, and then saved. Loaded it into Tyrian, but it failed to recognize the ship. I have the full version, forgot whether it's the 2000 version or not. Moreover, it won't work with any other version of Tyrian. The interface had those strange characters again, and I suppose they are some critical jumbled stuff, because removing that removed the ship from Tyrian's list, and gave errors. Maybe contact the coder for better in-depth help. Sorry I couldn't get much further.

Even a custom ship? Is there a way to change the destruction requirement for obtaining new options in ShipEdit? Maybe that could be the key.

Unfortunately, I have no idea who coded TyrHack, sorry; I'm trying to find out.

Good luck. I tried to find him a while ago but couldn't and I am an uber netstalker. He made a hack for some Epic racing game too.

Honestly I do replace certain levels of weapons with TyrHack. I moved the Level 11 Laser to Level 10, and I placed the SDF Main Gun on Level 11. It has the normal stuff in the Ep. 4 and 5, but the first three...

'Cause what you just said makes it sound like that. If so, perhaps I can replace that corny Pearl Wind with the SDF Main Gun, and something else with the Mega Dual Laser.

Your save file just says which guns you have, and if you have edited the guns then you have the edited versions. Later episodes have their own weapons tables that you have to edit separately.
