I absolutely LOVE the music in Tyrian. In my heart the game is the best vertical shooter I've ever played and it's an incredibly nostalgic game for me (mainly because of the music!).
So, was there ever a soundtrack or anything along those lines? I found out that Tyrian 2000 had CD-Audio tracks, which is exactly what I would like, but I can't find the game anywhere (not even on eBay)! Any tips on tracking down the soundtrack or Tyrian 2000?

I'm confused, I thought the CD contained CD-Audio tracks? When I burned the image I didn't see any tracks in there and my CD player couldn't read the CD. Am I missing something here?

I've never tried it in a CD player, but you should be able to listen to the tracks in WinAmp (or any other media player)

Hmm...I don't see it anywhere on this. This is all that's on the CD: Just the install files.

How did you do that? Do I have the right files on that burned image CD? Do I have to install the game to get the music files (I tried to open the burned CD through Windows Media Player but it couldn't find any music files)?

I installed the game but I still can't find the music files. What am I doing wrong?

Could you check to see if my CD is correct (Does your cd have the same files/folder structure as mine?)?

Mine has the same file/folder structure as yours does. The music isn't going to show up in explorer though. The CD is divided into tracks, the first track is the data (files and folders), the rest are the audio tracks... perhaps the software that you used to burn the CD didn't burn all the tracks onto the CD. If nothing else, I can rip the tracks for you.

Or go to the home page, download WinAMP/LDS player extention (adPlug), and the Nullsoft Disk Writer/MP3 writer. Or just keep WinAmp and the LDS's if you don't want to convert.

I'll be posting the music in ogg and mp3 formats in the next couple of days. It took me a couple minutes to convert the .ccd/.img combo to .cue/.bin in linux, and after that I could burn the CD using k3b and extract the soundtrack using KaudioCreator. I've got the 25 songs in their full digital glory, and not only a mere LDS mod converted to MP3. They sound much different, you'll see... Stay tuned! EDIT: There you go! files.filefront.com//;6250658;;/

Could you check to see if my CD is correct (Does your cd have the same files/folder structure as mine?)? Azure, I can clear this all up for you, I know lots about CD-images and all that. Firstly, don't worry, everything is perfectly fine with the CD-image. Red book CD-audio is not visible in the Windows interface, or any OS GUI for that matter. Only the Data files are visible. See, like Mindless explained, CD's are made up of tracks. A track can be either Data or Audio. Tyrian 2000 has Data as the first track and then a whole bunch of Audio tracks after that. The Audio is actually physically imprinted on the disc and as such there are no "files", that's why CD-images are required to retain it. Now, let's start from the beginning with your Tyrian 2000 CD-image from Filefront, because everything so far seems kinda messy and I don't think you burned the image properly in the first place. You have 2 options for what you want to do with the image, and both will allow you to listen to or extract the CD-audio music. 1. Mount the CD-image in Daemon Tools (Daemon-Tools.cc). D-Tools is the most popular virtual CD program on the net. You use it like a virtual CD-ROM drive, and CD-images are the virtual CD's. Once you've downloaded it, set the number of drives you want (max of 4 I believe) then mount the Tyrian 2000 CD-image and open up your favourite media player. Select the virtual CD drive and the CD-audio tracks should be listed. or 2. Burn the CD-image to a CD. I highly recommend Alcohol 120% for this, it's the best image-burning program out there and supports practically every single format. Forget Nero, it's crap for image burning. Once you've got Alcohol 120%, just select "Image-Burning Wizard", navigate to the CD-image and you're good to go . Then you'll be able to listen to the tracks in a normal CD player. Report back on how you go.
