While doing a re-run of Tyrian, I stumbled here and was happily surprised to find a fan community that is still alive (with actual posts this year and not, say, 2005). Hello! Anyway, I made an orchestra version of "Asteroid Dance" earlier this year, and thought maybe some of you might enjoy it. Here you go: SoundCloud linkIt's also on YouTube, although it's not the final version on the vid (so I recommend soundcloud): Youtube linkOr if you prefer just a mp3 file, you'll get that at byproductmusic.net. Just scroll down to remixes. As it happens, I don't have an actual live orchestra in my livingroom (aww), so it's made using EastWest plugins, among other things. Cheers! P.S. Currently working on a track that is half Camanis. Should be out in a couple of weeks or so.

I think you might be a bit optimistic about how alive these forums are.

^Maybe he is, but "10 posts a year" is better than "unactive since 2005". Welcome! I also play OpenTyrian on my Android phone and my laptop at times. Playing Arcade on Impossible/Suicide, it actually gets pretty challenging from there onward. Nice remix. I kinda like how it doesn't sound like an actual orchestra - it's all clearly digital - yet still sounds good, creating a very filling atmosphere. Love the percussion that enters later. Perhaps the bit you added at the end could've been extended; I liked where that was going. (Also, your live performance and remix of Gangnam Style played just afterward and damn, it's good. My kind of chip-ish music. Nerdgasmed @ Second Reality.)

Thanks! And even if it finds just a couple of Tyrian fans, it's still worth posting on their forums I think. ^_^ Anyway, here's another remix, this time mostly electronic. The first half is from Star Control 2's Hyperspace, and the rest is Camanis and "camanise" from Tyrian. video linkI also sent this one to Alexander Brandon (on his Facebook page), and in his reply he said the original executable of Tyrian, during development, was starcon.exe after Star Control. Funny coinicidence! And there's a bit of (perhaps fresh) Tyrian trivia for you.

I haven't been listening to much VGM/demoscene music lately, but your remix playlist reminds me that I should be.

More Tyrian trivia! Completely unrelated but didn't want to start a new topic. Apparently the track "Gyges, Will you please help me" was inspired by a track from a MegaDrive game called Thunder Force 3: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMIjllg47Hg . </trivia>
