I'm a bit of a music junkie. A few years ago, I had a computer with a sound card that could play midi files so that they sounded exactly like the mp3's on this site. Since then, I have gotten a new computer, and a new sound card. While the Soundblaster Live! card has a pretty nice midi soundfont, it's not the same, which has frustrated me to no end. I was wondering if any of you would know of the sound card or an equivalent soundfont which was used to record those mp3's. By the way, I'm not -just- a music junkie; I used to love the Tyrian games. It looks like you've got a pretty nice forum and some good fangames going -- I'll try to come back and post more here.

Don't use MIDI, use the LDS files and AdPlug.

Um, that's not helpful. What I want is to be able to use MIDI with an instrument bank that sounds like the songs on that site, not to switch to a different music format. Maybe what would help is if anyone knew who recorded those tracks.

I don't really think Tyrian MIDI sounds very good. LDS is the native format and how it was intended to be played. Regardless, knowing what your old soundcard was would be of great help... >_>

I'm not actually going for the original sound of Tyrian here -- I'd like to find that soundcard or a soundfont emulating it so that I can play other MIDI files with it. And yes, you make a good point. I do know that it was manufactured by Soundblaster, but that's it.

That's most likely it.
