I've managed to finally switch to a PCI-ex system and I had some time to kill so I had a try at this issue again. Some time ago, I speculated that ...even assuming huge prices to pay to work in a GUI-driven world, the CPU usage should be no higher than 20%, or 45% on a 1Ghz processor, and even this is pretending that a 1Ghz processor to be just ten 486s. I am happy to write that the CPU% at 1Ghz is now in the range 20-50%, allowing the CPU to always work in power-saving mode. It's still alot of power, but at least my green part is now fine with that. This somehow hints at the "communication problem" theory I proposed. I dream of a day when Enhanced will ditch SDL_Surface and go for a properly HW-friendly, post-2000 renderer... Have a nice day everyone!
