Suggestions/questions for the forum

hi to everyone
i was reading random post in this forum and i've noticed some crappy (in my opinion) things, and i'm going to write them down right now:

1: email notifications= i just press "Bookmark this thread" but i don't receive any email. Is that a problem of this forum just don't have email notification?

2: Section for the original tyrian= yeah 5 section about an old game nearly-fully replaced with an Open version. What do you think to "clean up" some sections and suggest to the people to use the OpenTyrian? maybe keep a section for the GBA version and one for Tyrian2000 since the Open version comes out.

3: sections for opentyrian= what do you think to open some Sub-sections for OpenTyrian?
here you are some ideas: Game Questions (only about the game), Tech Help (about technical problems and how-to), Bug Report/suggestions (as the name says), Other Platforms, Version Announcements (only with annoucements on releases)

4: google code page: now it's much better than 2 months ago, but in my opinion it still need lot of work.
- more screenshots
- maybe a gameplay video
- more "background" (what aims the team, the story of Tyrian, etc)



and in my opinion it will be useful for all users to have a self-extracting package with all the stuff needed to play (game, data, .dll and libraries).
Maybe a .deb package is too hard to make, but for windows a self-extracting file won't be so difficult (i've never tried, but i've read about it).

1: Dunno about that. Gamera is the forum admin.
2: OpenTyrian is just a port, any gameplay or editing questions still go in those forums.
3: See above. Also, bugs should be reported here and version announcements are in the svn builds threads.
4: OpenTyrian looks jus like Tyrian, I don't see why we need more screenshots. You can find some videos on youtbe, but again, it looks just like Tyrian. And the site is about the port, not he game, you can find that stuff on Gamera's fansite or in Wikipedia.

mh yes you remind me the GAmera's Fansite that's what i was talking about. thanks.
in my dreams i still see a "merge" of all those things, just to make Tyrian (in OpenTyrian body) live again as it just came out (like more than 10 years ago).
Yes, because in my opinion when OpenTyrian2000 will be ready, stable, playable, there won't be any more reason to use original Tyrian game under emulation, and so a complete-new-ultra-beautiful HeadQUarter site for Tyrian will be the right thing.

i've resolved the issue for email notifications: i had to modify my bookmarks options. now i receive emails on replies

About the info of Tyrian we are ok with the Gamera Fansite

About sections for Opentyrian and for Tyrian: we are ok, but a "clean up" should be done for the VERY VERY VERY old things, since the problems/stuff changes at every revision (at least for OT).

EDIT: i've noticed the whole forum need a good clean up and a wel ordered sections. Gamera should read this
