Hey all, I'm back, after several years. Okay, actually I promised to do this a LONG time ago but it looks like it finally might happen. A 3-d movie based on Tyrian. I'll be running my models by here to see what everyone thinks. Info so far There will be only one character, Trent. The time will probably be only about three or four minutes (its only based on the first level, and it supposed to move pretty fast). No sound effects, sorry. Songs: Linkin Park "Points of Authority" -about 30 seconds- (opening chase scene, character Trent Hawkins first appears and runs from apparent laser fire.) Iron Savior Prisoner of the void -about 3 to 4 minutes- the Talon takes off and fights its way though the hords of Mircosol ships until it destroys the claw dragon (end gaurdian) and escapes into outer space. Weapons: main gun: missile launcher side kicks: mini missile launcher rear weapon: sonic pulse Ship: Talon Level: Tyrian

OK, the Talon doesn't really look like the one I remember, the puffer... which ship is it? the spinners need a more metalic look, they sorta look like clay, the needlers should be more pointy and the paperclips are almost perfect, though they look like clay too and I can't see the black windshield-like-thing, you should take a look at the game again, and if you think the talon doesn't really look the way you wnt, you should replicate the Gencore ship from one of the boxes.

Umm... okay.
Reasons for differences:
First off, Tyrian was NEVER a 3-D game, so these feed mostly off my imagination.
I'm not a texture master, actually I just wanted to flesh these guys out a little for display. Tyrian would actually be better represented by cartoon like colors, (in fact, there's some question in my mind if I should just do that since it would be easier to animate).
The Talon design... raise your hand if you were crazy about the original design... that's not very many of you. Tyrian, although a good game, was a game of it's time. The first ships and weapons were the cheesiest and least impressive, and at the end, everything was super awesome and took up large portions of the screen. This was of course, the reason people played, to get a bigger better ship, with better guns, incredible fire power all around and to see and hear all those cool effects.
All that said, I notice there's not probably not a question in your mind as to which ships represent what... which means I'm doing well.
Finally... you don't know what the puffers represent... I never liked them much either... right before you leave the enemy platforms to face the construction claws, a group of puffers attack you from the side of the screen. I'm thinking of cutting them from the movie entirely... I would have to agree though, that texture really isn't very good... oops.

I actually did work a little on the textures to fix them, but no, they won't be perfect. Remember, when the feature is done, not everything will be 1to1 from the game. Everything is based heavily on it, but also I'm attempting to shall we say... jazz it up a little. For instance I've already made a model of Trent. torkuda.deviantart.com/art/Trent-Hawkins-92833259Thats right, he's actually going to make an appearance in the animation. Actually I think this was a bit of a running joke after a while because no where in the game is anyone given so much as a clue as to what Trent looks like. When he finally writes a diary to himself in the parody level, it's just a giant question mark in the image.

I think it is left that way to be mysterious (or the player him/herself) Kind of like Halo.
Not exactly how I'd expect some guy from 20 billion trillion years in the future to dress like, but then, I can't model people worth poo.

I think that Trent looks ok, just look at the other guys, like Transon, he doesn't really look that futuristic either, so this Trent fits in that no so futuristic future too.

Thankyou SM. Actually though... I have no idea what a proper portrayal would be.
The images the game gave looked normal enough actually, SM is right. It was supposed to be set some ridiculous date into the future, but the fashion and technology seemed based on modern day ideas and concepts. Actually sometimes I think setting it THAT FAR into the future, was part of another joke. It was a parody of other sci-fi series at the time, that tried to explain technology by saying humanity had been around some assanine amount of time, and therefore had progressed beyond our understanding of their technology... hence the writer didn't have to explain anything, just enter an ridiculous date. Tyrian is full of jokes like this if you pay attention.
