As long as the DS has a SDL port, which AFAIK, it doesn't. It probably wouldn't run fast enough.

I think you could do it, but it would require a lot of optimization. I know a guy who does DS homebrew, but I doubt he'd want to work with OpenTyrian in its current state.

Jumping in and resurrecting this thread because I've just finished porting OpenTyrian Classic to the DS. vespenegas.com/tyrian.htmlI did a checkout from SVN (r734) and worked from there. Everything seems to work pretty well, but this is a first release so there are still some bugs, and there's a couple more things I still want to add. Anyway, you're free to take a look if anyone's interested.

I followed the instruction, and it crashed on my DS1... I've copy the tyrian's files in the root (with a tyrian folder), DLDI the nds... and then I get a "Guru Meditation Error ! data abort !" on a red screen... did I missed something ?

IT WORKS !!!!!!! I've updated the dsone OS and now it works very well. The sound fx are a bit laggy and the songs do not loop very well but it's a pretty cool portage to the DS, really. Thanks !
i can fix songs' looping if you want...

But I have the same question, why are the songs and the rest of the game so heavy? Shouldn't it use the same game files as the other opentyrian releases? Thanks for this version!!!

I presume he pre-rendered the songs. The Adlib emulator is one of the heaviest parts of the game.
