It's nice to see that such old game retains its popularity and is talked about on so many different forums. No wonder; this game is still one of the best space shooters. I just obtained it about 4 yearz ago and I'm still playing it over and over again to see if there'z any secrets left, and of course, trying to surmound my percentage records, where it iz possible
I'd like to have some questions regarding the game. The forum is very useful, I already received some answers by just reading the various threads. Only a few questions remained unanswered, I hope you can answer me these.
- Tyrian takes place before or after our current age? I wuz wonderin' as at the end, Trent decided to go towards Earth in his ship, so supposedly he already arrived, or will only just arrive?
- You ALWAYS get the bonus levels, no matter how good/bad you were on the previous levels? Like, that Galaga-style bonus level in Episode 1, or Episode 2 bonus levels if you chose NOT to go to "GEM WAR"? So, bonus levels are always reachable, you don't have to earn them? I remember a secret hint saying that by maximizing your score you can go from one bonus level to another (or I mite have misunderstood sumthin)
- Scenery objects also effect destruction percentage? I just ask cuz when I kill everything on MINEMAZE, TYRIAN, GYGES or DELIANI, I get only 91-92%. On levels like ASSASSIN or APPROACH, I can reach 100% by killin' everything. MINEMAZE has those magnetic thingies, TYRIAN has the boss ship miniature arriving just before the bossfight, and there are the ruins of factoriez in DELIANI, so I don't know...
- Same thing, only on DREAD-NOT. And the funnies thing is, I actually destroy the whole ship piece by piece and still don't get higher percentage than 70% or so.
- The enemies on EYESPY, BRAINIAC and NOSE-DRIP are all parts of Vykromod? According to the story, he is still alive and turned into something bizarre so reading the datacubes I got the impression that you're actually killing Vykromod by destroyin' those bodyparts.
- The weapon transfer trick still works in Tyrian 2000? I mean, I start the game in Arcade, go to SOH JIN and pick up the Laser. I finish the level, and right after I start the next one, I quit to the main menu. Then I try to load my game and it loads back in arcade mode! I also tried to start a new game in full game mode and load the arcade game later, but the same thing happens. What am I doing wrong?
- Which superweapons disable twiddles? I noticed this bug with The Flare and Protron field (arcade mode protron's superweapon). When I tried to repair my armor or summon a Microbomb shower, nothing happens. I also noticed this with the SDF Main gun sometimes.
