Well, it's a little early to call it a Work In Progress. But a friend and I are going to make an attempt at a fan game. Don't worry, we wouldn't think of releasing it without a shop system. If this were to happen we wouldn't dare allow it to be the final version. I will attempt to design some more ships for it, I already put a couple other things of my design in with shipedit. Pictures will come.
Edit: Just a warning, don't get your hopes up. We have a bit on our plates as it is right now, running a Sonic game fan site.

The best I've ever gotten to a clone is editing Tyrian's source, changing music to conventional MP3, and then graphics changing. I never released it nor provided a link because it's infringement, I play it for self-entertainment XD

Isn't it in the public domain now? Besides, theres nothing wrong with releasing a fan game as long as you don't sell it.

I still edited the source code, and I practically rewrote only a few lines and replaced graphix... I wouldn't want Safari Co on my conscience XD

I disassembled it... It's ONLY for my entertainment, so I'm not in any legal issues, hopefully; I'll take it off immediately if this is a problem. Pronto.

What kind of format are you developing for? What language are you developing in? I'm still active in ideas and development of a Java based Tyrian game. My ideas are starting to warp further away from a faithful Tyrian remake, and more to a game inspired by or relating to Tyrian. I'll post on this forum as my work continues (I've been working on other projects and expanding my learning). But if you want help, post here and we'll do what we can.

I would ask Jason Emery, I did this too and he that he is ok with my idea of the Tyrian lite game... so I'm sure if you would ask he won't say anything against this. And ship design... do you have allready some new ships? We are planning 2D models for our game, and if you could show me off some of your ships, I would build them in (if you're ok with this). Please tell me.
I allready thaught about if it wouldn't be possible to make a Tyrian 3D Game... you can imagine?
