Hi to everyone. I'm pretty new in this community and i've noticed how much "small" is it. So, i was wondering about the "future" or OpenTyrian, and what in my opinion it should be, and i've brain-stormed those points
1= OpenTyrian should be the latest, more updated, more balanced, more feature complete version of the original Tyrian saga: something everyone who loved tyrian (any of the saga) will love again in Open nature. So in my opinion is the time to find someone to use the Tyrian2000 files.
2=OpenTyrian should have a well-supported and supporting community: guides for newbies and binary files for every platform, surveys about new features and a suggestion section to propose something new.
what do you think about that? are you with me, or against me?
post you suggestion here!

what do you think about changing the names of the 2 version in: - OpenTyrian Classic ---> OpenTyrian - OpenTyrian Enhanced ---> OpenTyrian Test/Beta?
i've write down this question due to the impossibility to discover the differences between the 2 versions. so in my opinion using the 2 branches as "1 test, 1 stable" is something better to provide "enhanced vs standard".

i've started a new thread writing down what about the forum/site is IN MY OPINION good to do. About the naming of each version, i think it will be hard to change the mind of the developers, but i've tried

+ for your first post, -1 for your secound post: "Classic" and "Enhanced" versions are, and should stay, exacly as they names, which are explaining differences between them very good (and this differences dont have anything common with stable/beta things)

I have to disagree with that. The "Classic" OpenTyrian, as its name implies, is only a rewrite in a different code of the good old Tyrian. Same gameplay, same features, same graphics. On the inverse, the "Enhanced" port, you guessed it, adds new enhanced features. As dinth said, there's no relation to the stability of the code in either versions. If anything, there should be 4 versions: OpenTyrian Classic Edition, Stable Branch OpenTyrian Classic Edition, Unstable Branch OpenTyrian Enhanced Edition, Stable Branch OpenTyrian Enhanced Edition, Unstable Branch But we're a long way from there, I guess

Classic only has a Stable branch as far as everyone is concerned. Mindless is quite good at not breaking anything and leaving things in a fully working state.
Enhanced on the other hand, depends on me not procrastinating and feeling like cooding. I also frequently implement big features in several commits, with long intervals of inactivity between them, leaving stuff broken for ages. I'm in the process of fixing some things right now, actually, and then I'll start using branches for my development, so that should hopefully reduce trunk breakage on enhanced.
