Done with The Gimp 2.0 under Ubuntu. Full image has 4 Megapixels, is a whopping 28MB, and is divided in 7 layers (background, 3 x clouds, suns, ships, landscape). This way it'll be easier to draw the ships and horizon. What do you think about this for a start? Hope you like it. PS: Ow! Almost forgot, I started drawing a kind of "firetrail" (kinda like what you see after rockets, dunno what's the exact term for it.) to the ship. Is that a good idea, or should I do just a motion/cinetic blur to make the illusion of movement to the ships? Also, you should see the hull glass, it's awesome now with reflections!

WAOW ! great job just continue as you told, it's great ! but, uh, just a thing, ... isn't the desert around a bit too ... chocolate ? ;D Yeah, motionblor on the ship could be cool, I allow you to give it a try. and for the rockets, well ... it was quite complicated to decide how to draw all the things the enemy ships throw at you in tyrian ... my intention was to make think of the fireballs that came from the turrets in the game.

Roger that! Yeah, the land is a bit too brown for my taste. I'll do something about it. And since it's a layer on its own... child's play! About the rocket, you got me wrong, I was talking about something like that: img166.imageshack.us/img166/1953/testfiregn2.jpg*Behind* the hero ship. Kind of a propulsion trail. Whatcha think? And yes, the fireballs are great (As is your whole drawing, btw! ). I'll try to keep'em as faithful to the original as possible. Stay tuned!

yup, the fireballs are cool, bot a yellow/orange color would be more like in the game, isn't it ?
and, uh, I didnt thought the motionblur bould reduce all the orizon to à quite simple line likte this ... maybe it is too exagerate ?
the sky on the first tryout looked better, i think ... more toxic and hostile ^^

How about that? Changes: -Added more yellow to the fireballs, as per windir request. -Totaly remade the landscape, as per windir request. -Ship edges amplified. -Ship texture done. -Started adding shadows. Just a start for the ship though, don't take all this for granted ;D
