this is expected to be a SDL bug, as none of the devs can reproduce it perhaps try an older version of SDL :/

it turns out, according to some nvidia owners on the irc channel, it's an nvidia driver problem, which can be resolved by downgrading... I couldn't say which version you can expect to work as I don't have any nvidia cards

OK, I've been able to reproduce this by updating my video drivers, will look into a workaround.

I have found a work around for now, still looking for a proper fix.
Create a new file in the OpenTyrian directory named run.bat Open it in notepad and type in these two lines:
set SDL_VIDEODRIVER=directx tyrian.exe Use run.bat to run opentyrian instead of tyrian.exe

As of revision 708 that workaround shouldn't be needed anymore (actually, I just integrated it into the code so you don't need to do anything. =P)

Also, while there's no graphic corruption now, the newest nvidia drivers do *NOT* support Tyrian's resolution, which is why you get the black bars. This happens in DOSBox too. I hate nvidia now

Is there a special program required to edit the .conf file cuz mine won't open and windows just directs me to trial versions of registry cleaners that don't fix anything. I'm running vista on a laptop less than 2 months off the shelf and the windowed version works perfectly(5x5 inches i'd say). Fullscreen is a bit off on resolution/color/lag, so if there's a hotkey for a larger dosbox window or any ideas why I can't run the .conf file I'm open to suggestion at this point.
