Classic Dos Games also has Tyrian 2.0 shareware. And I have it at a rather slow connection here.

IPX is, if memory serves, internet protocol; found that out after grueling session with Worms Armageddon...

As soon as someone sets up a dedicated server, we can make a batch file to startup the netarena with just a single click. Or double click..
But as of now, that is just a pipe dream until somebody somewhere gets a permanently (or weekend-only) running machine with static IP and at least cable-T1 speed. We could just have a command that connects us up to the IP and runs netarena with dosbox (rather easy command, too).

it says i dont have a network driver located and i need IPX.com or IPXODI.com You need to enable IPX in DOSBox. Write "ipx true" in DOSBox. After that write "ipxnet startserver" on host then "ipxnet connect hostname" on clients. Do the Tyrian spesific stuff afther that. bb1: I'm pretty sure it was verified by people in #tyrian that the host's connection was irrelevant as long as he wasn't playing.

if you have a lot of people playing on the server (which you won't), they are all going through the host.

Hope to play some of ya and see u on #tyrian
and yea u guys are right it isnt that difficult to start it but i have tried the cycle = 17000 but my comp is ancient and it seems to work better with auto
And i dont seem to be able to host and challenge myself? theres a player 1 self challenge thing in netarena but when i do it it just refreshes and goes back to the original screen on net arena

Challenging yourself?
Play 1p, heh. It is still iffy code, netplay wasn't a prominent feature.

Tyrian netplay was imminent when they [Safari] had their 2-player mode with interacting ships; too bad network play was a bit ugly, in lieu of the modems back then.

I've set up a Tyrian/OMF server at exabyte.rcac.purdue.edu, port 41114. Feel free to connect to it whenever you like. Contact me (mwolson AT member.fsf.org) if there are any problems. The connection should be quite good. I will try to keep it up as much as possible. Here's an example batch file to run tyrian: c: cd \tyrian ipxnet connect exabyte.rcac.purdue.edu 41114 netipx netarena -l 1 file0001
